Hot Sauce Festival 5-K Summary

What a treat for the runners this year!!  Beautiful weather, for a change, allowed Hot Air Balloons for the first time to be in flight welcoming the runners.  What a welcoming and breath-taking sight as we all walked around gazing into the skies.  And once again, Race Director Jim Howard was praised by runners for providing GREAT overall trophies, not only for the first 3 overall male/female finishers, but for the first Grand, Grand Masters and Senior  male/female finishers.   Runners were grateful for the “perks” (Tobasco mug/drink glass and products) and for the  numerous door prizes.  Jim, who finished 1^st in his age group, really does a fantastic job in showing his appreciation to the runners.  Thanks, Jim!

Overall male finishes were (1) D. J. Hebert-16:34 (now a UL-Lafayette student), (2) Alan Gertsle-16:53, and (3) Paul Marks-18:56.  Overall female finishers were (1) Alix Stelly-22:39, (2) Tracy Eisey-23:38, and (3) Renee Voorhies-24:46.  Masters awards went to male Alan Hayes-19:46 and female Scarlet LeBlanc-26:44.  Grand Masters went to male Carroll Smith-21:09 and female Ann Pollingue.  Seniors awards went to husband and wife, Ron Piontek-31:47 and Mary Piontek-37:50.
