2001 Indian Creek
Triathlon

Lafayette invaded the Indian Creek
triathlon
running away with a load of awards. The race was a
first time triathlon for that area and turned out
really well.
The swim course was about the most accurate I've
seen so far this year. It was on a sandy beach and
the water was clean. The bike course was an out and
back with a few sharp turns but was mostly nice roads
and had lots of volunteers. I hear that it was the
third choice for the course because the original
course had a bridge out and the second choice had two
railroad track crossings. Those who did the race will
surely agree that the stretch of road going out and
back in the park had some challenging hills. The run
wasn't nearly as brutal as Tinman but still quite
humid. There was some overcast because of Allison
that really helped. My only negative observation is
the transition on a parking lot. Most had to tip toe
accross it because of small rocks but I have seen
worse. I have to loan them Big Daddy, my industrial
strength leaf blower, for next years race.
We all had a good time and the food after was good
and plentiful. It was a great setting for a race.
Lots of trees and shade and adequate parking close to
the site. Almost all that traveled up from Lafayette
won an award. Check out the results. John Deshotel's
Mom walked off with two awards.
