If you are looking for people to train with in the Lafayette area, this list should help.  All the groups listed below would love to have new members join in.  Feel free to show up anytime.  If you have a group you would like listed, just email the info to (webmaster@lafayettefitness.org).

Mondays:

Monday for Runners:  Prep. for Cajun Cup. We meet at 5:30 PM at Reds Boot Camp area. Men/women welcome to this new group. Group will run 7-9 minute miles depending on distance that day. The group usually runs between 2-4 miles. Speed work and endurance excercise sometimes included. Blake-230-8596.

(Bike) MEET AT THE OFFICE OF COMMUNITY SERVICES (1353 SURREY STREET) AT 5:00PM. RIDE IS APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES WHICH INCLUDES TWO LOOPS IN THE HILLS
OFF OF WILDERNESS TRAIL ROAD AND ONE VERY FAST INTERVAL STRETCH THROUGH THE SIMCOE STREET PROJECTS.

Tuesdays:
(Running) A.M.
MEET AT REDS AT 5:00AM. WARM UP TWO MILES GETTING TO THE USL TRACK, THEN THREE MILES OF INTERVALS (USUALLY 800s) THEN TWO MILE COOL DOWN
BACK TO REDS. (APPROXIMATELY AN EIGHT MILE WORKOUT)

P.M. Meet at the USL Track at 4:45 P.M. Two mile warmup on grass, then repeat intervals of varying lengths and pace.  There is usually two groups of runners of different abilities ranging from 33:00 10K runners to 38:00 minute ones.  Two mile warmdown on grass afterwards.

(Bike) Meet at NOVA Technology in Broussard (118 NOVA Dr)
Ride leaves at 6:00 PM and is structured to improve sprinting

Wednesdays:

Mondays and Wednesday Runners:  We meet at 5:30 PM at the Red’s Boot Camp.  Usually about 50/50 men/women (6-8 people) with two groups that either run about 9-9:30 pace or sub8-9:00 pace. The group usually runs between 4-7 miles on the streets starting at Red’s.


(Bike)
MEET AT TARGET ON JOHNSON STREET AT 5:00PM FOR A VERY FAST RIDE TO ABBEVILLE AND BACK. THE RIDE IS APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES AND IS VERY FLAT AND FAST.

(Bike) Meet at Pack & Paddle
Ride leaves at 5:45 PM and is a structured interval workout (approximately 35 miles)

Thursdays:
(Running) A.M.
Meet at Red's at 4:50 a.m.  5 to 7 mile run on the roads Starts at 5:00 a.m.  Some runners will run longer distances during the winter months.
P.M. Meet at Acadiana Park in Lafayette (Alexander Street) at 6:00 P.M. during summer, 5:00 P.M. during winter.  6 to 7 mile run at very sane pace (7:45 to 8:00 per mile) either on the roads along the bayou or on grass and trails when dry.

Ride leaves at 5:45 PM and is a fast, steady pace (approximately 35 miles).  Route may vary according to weather conditions.

Saturdays:
(Running) A.M.
Meet at Red's at 7:00 a.m.  Distances vary, but this group usually does a long run (10-12 miles or more).

(Running) A.M. Meet at Opelousas General Health Club (336 Heather Drive) at 7:00 a.m. Distances vary, but part of the group usually does a long run (9-12 miles or more), another part goes about 6 miles.

(Bike) A.M. MEET AT REDS AT 7:00AM. RIDE ROUTE AND DISTANCE WILL VARY ACCORDING TO WEATHER, TIME, SEASON, ETC. BRING YOUR RUNNING SHOES AS THERE IS ALWAYS A RUN FOLLOWING THE BIKE RIDE.

(Bike) Meet at Pack & Paddle.  Ride leaves at 8:00 AM. Multiple groups for different abilities (approximately 20 - 40 miles).  Routes may vary according to weather conditions.

Sundays:
(Running) A.M.
The Congregation Running Club meets every Sunday morning at the Ramada Inn I10-I49 (formerly Holiday Inn North) on the I49 service road for an easy long run.  The groups meets at 6:00 a.m. in the summer months, and 6:30 a.m. during the rest of the year.   The base loop is 12 miles and starts promptly at the designated time.  To add distance, show up early and tack on a few extra miles.  After the run, the group enjoys breakfast or drinks.

(Running) A loosely organized group meets in New Iberia every Sunday at 6:00 or 6:30 (sometimes 7:00).  The group goes 10 to 12 miles, longer during marathon training.  Paces range from 7:30 to 8:30 per mile.  Contact Carroll Smith (365.3691) or webmaster@lafayettefitness.org.

(Running) We're a bunch of middle of the packers who run on Sundays.
The group is about 60% female and 40% male.  Ages vary from 20 something to 60 something, and we usually run at a conversational pace.

 The distance varies, as does the course.  We run mainly around Lafayette, and try to make all our runs scenic.  We usually meet at Girard Park and then drive to our selected course for that Sunday.

A weekly e-mail is sent out every Monday/Tuesday with the coming week's Sunday run and other local running related news.

(Bike) Meet at Girard Park (near basketball & tennis courts).  Ride leaves at 8:00 AM and is designed to improve endurance. (approximately 50 - 80 miles). Routes may vary according to weather conditions.

Swimming Workouts:

Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays:
AT 5:00PM AT REDS. INTERVAL WORKOUT & STROKE
DRILLS WITH TOTAL SWIM BETWEEN 1000 AND 2500 METERS. THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE TO SWIM WITH AT REDS AT LUNCH .
